Knocking out a few pots to bisque fire before decorating and getting them in the RAKU kiln I have made.

So it just had to be done, I've gone and made my own RAKU kiln. 

Wendy bought me a RAKU masterclass session for Xmas. Booked the event through Clayrooms for a one day session with Andy Mason in June on Fathers Day. Had an amzing time and learned a lot during the event which I'm going to put in practice at home.  Watch the reel (click here) of the day to see what we got up to. 

Bisque fired this sculpture ready for trying some RAKU glazes to bring out the black and white patterns on this Humboldt penguin, which are medium-sized penguins native to the coasts of Chile and Peru in South America

First use of RAKU Clay! Waiting for it to dry before firing and then the raku bit. Ive got a RAKU workshop shortly and wanted to make something to take and try out some oxide finishes using the RAKU reduction firing process. Trying for a redish brown on the bear and hopefully a shimmer of blue/grey with silver and gold on the fish.....see video

Went to this on Sunday 25th May, arrived early and had a great time visiting the stalls, seeing all the ceramics, meeting the potters and enjoying chatting about their works on display. I even bought a few pieces to take home. Met Jonathan the Jolly Potter from Series 8 Pottery Throwdown, such a lovely man, so passionate about his craft.
